New age of Paton

I've heard my fair share of new music this year, some great and some not so great, but that's the way of the world. If everyone could create amazing music then the world would be a very different place. Lucky for us only a select few can write and produce good music.

Most people will remember Danny Paton from his days in The Underdog Theory, some might even stretch their memories further back to the days of Here's to Hoping and even (a memory which should be eradicated from everyone's memory, even I try to forget those days, and I was in the band) A Tempo Above Your Heartbeat. These days Mr. Paton has moved in to his own new niche and now goes under the name Danny P. Much the same way that Puff Daddy went to P. Diddy, I wonder if Danny will move to use the stage name "Diddy P"

I stumbled across his debut single "What goes around comes back around" when I logged into Facebook this morning, and as an ever growing nosey bastard I had to have a listen and listen I did.

For the first 12 seconds of the track I felt a bit let down, I had this strange feeling that this was going to be an acoustic track, and for some reason I wasn't prepared for an acoustic track from Mr. Paton. However at 12 seconds the song came to life with what I can only describe as a burst of early noughties American Rock. The sounds instantly reminded me of the band Saliva (you know the ones, the guy who sung the song with Chad Kroger? yeah he's from Saliva) and I was addicted.

The song is musically tight, well produced and a song that you want to listen to time and time again. Even as I write this, I'm listening to it for what must be the 8th time. It is a well constructed piece of music with nothing left to the imagination. A few years ago I would have been dubious about listening to a track that featured Danny on vocals as I never felt that his vocals were quite strong enough, however now my mind has been completely changed. He has found his voice and what a voice it is.

If the first track is this strong then I really look forward to whatever else come from this production studio.

Have a listen for yourself!
